
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born July 9, 1956, is an American actor. Famous for his comedic and dramatic role, he is one of the most popular and well-known film stars in the world and is considered an American famous cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the son of Janet Marylyn, a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). His mother, initially referred to "Fraga" was from an ethnically Portuguese family. His father was mainly English. Tom grew up in a family he calls "fractured". He had no acting experience during his college. This is what helped him start his career. He went to downtown and auditioned for a community production of a theater, and was then invited by the director of the play to attend Cleveland where the beginning of his acting career took off.
