Carey was 5'10 in height when she became a high-end model. The popularity of her among American designer Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was extremely high. Her father is an accomplished geologist, who was awarded Scientist of the Year back in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was brought up across the globe as a consequence of the work of her father. While she was at in the University of Colorado at part-time, she caught the interest of the Ford model Agency representative in New York. The model moved to France in 1980 and lived briefly in Paris as well as Bordeaux before returning to New York to continue with her education at college and build a modeling career. She soon began being featured on the cover of Vogue, Glamour, etc. While modeling she also studied literature full time in New York University. As she studied acting at Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her interest in acting grew. In 1986 she had her first acting role as a small part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. She enjoys in wind surfing, skiing, rock climbing and white water white water rafting.
